Celebrating more than 20 years, the John Walter Cape Community Band is honored to be recognized as the community concert band
of Cape May County, NJ.  Created in 1996 by retired high school band director John Walter, the group is made up of volunteers from
the surrounding mid-Atlantic area.  Members include current and former music educators, business professionals, retirees and students
from local elementary and high schools.  The John Walter Band’s mission is to foster and promote the social, intellectual, and musical
welfare, education, and skill of our members and to bring music to the community.

Under the direction of Dr. John Curtis, a lifelong music educator, recitalist, and conductor, the John Walter Band entertains the public
throughout the year performing a variety of music selections that are sure to please audiences both young and old.  Concerts are free,
and most are open to the public.

New members of all ages are welcome to come join us, including those who have not played for many years.  There are no try-outs.
Many performers are former music educators and take special pride in mentoring young musicians, offering students a unique
opportunity to improve technique and musician-ship.  The band rehearses in the
Lower Cape May Regional High School band room
on Tuesday nights from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
