About the John Walter Cape Community Band
For over 25 years, the John Walter Cape Community Band has proudly served as Cape May County’s beloved community concert band, entertaining audiences across South Jersey with diverse musical performances. Our members represent a vibrant mix of educators, business professionals, retirees, and students from local elementary and high schools and colleges. Together, we share a passion for music and a commitment to enriching the community.
Our mission is to foster the social, intellectual, and musical growth of our members while bringing the joy of music to the public. Throughout the year, we perform a wide variety of music, delighting audiences of all ages. Best of all, our concerts are free and open to everyone. With many of our members being former music teachers, we take pride in mentoring the next generation of musicians, offering students a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and technique.
In addition to our full band, the John Walter Brass Quintet brings the spirit of music to more intimate settings that may not accommodate a large ensemble. This talented group of musicians performs an array of seasonal and contemporary tunes, blending the charm of European brass traditions with popular favorites. And it includes percussion! Whether you’re looking for festive melodies or timeless classics, the quintet adds a special touch to every performance.
If you’re interested in joining the band or learning more, we’d love to hear from you! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on upcoming events, or contact us directly for more information. We are proud to be supported by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners through the Cape May County Division of Culture & Heritage.
